Google has launched an instant messaging app that is ‘Allo’ which would help users to make plans, find information and more, all within one chat. It was earlier announced at Google I/O on May 18, and officially launched on September 21, 2016. The app is available on Android and IOS.
Fresh features are introduced in Allo app:-
Chat one-on-one with your Google Assistant, anytime and anywhere you need it.
Find out how far you are from the airport, and when your flight leaves. You decide what to share with your Google Assistant, and the more you use it, the more useful it gets.
Start an incognito chat with another person in Allo app.
Incognito mode comes with privacy and secure mode, so you can control how long your messages stick around and private notifications to help keep your chats more discreet and cautious.
Express yourself with the perfect sticker.
Stickers and emoticons in Google Allo are designed by independent artists and studios from around the world. From Drama to Food Part, add some fun to the conversation when words aren't enough.
Show some creativity with photos.
Get artistic with the photos you send by doodling on them or adding text. Draw a smiley face, turn your friends into memes, and mix in some color. However, this feature is available only on android for now.
Use Smart Reply to make your conversation interesting
Smart Replies keep the conversation moving with a single tap by suggesting text and emoji responses based on a user’s usual replies.
The Allo app can send SMS to your contacts that are not on Allo. It will land as a message to download the app but the recipient can send a reply to you as SMS.
Is this app better than its contemporaries?
Each messaging app has its own principle, Pros and cons. So let’s find out more about ‘Allo App’
- iMessage, Hangouts and Messenger work on both the devices i.e. mobile and computers. Currently, Allo works only on Android and iOS mobile devices might be Google update the feature for Computers.
- Messenger has more sticker packs than Allo, which has around 25 stickers.
- iMessage stickers are more enjoyable to use. In iMessage, stickers can be placed on top of messages and photos; we can show our creativity by adding a cartoon mustache to our selfie. But on Allo, stickers can be sent only as stand-alone messages.
The big difference between the Hangouts and Allo app is Hangout relies mainly on your contacts list linked to a Google Mail account, whereas Allo pulls contacts from your device’s phone book.
A major glitch in this app is that it does not segregate your contacts on basis of active users of Allo app with non users. Rather it shows them in a plaintive catalogue which makes it difficult to determine which contact uses the app and which not.
Google has the opportunity to stand out by offering better and finer artificial intelligence in Allo app.
